The journey begins long before the whistle blows...
Midlife Madness was initially formed by a group of parents who decided that they had spent enough time watching their children train and the time was right to try it for themselves.
The club was formed and opened its doors to anyone who wanted to give the sport a go.
This philosophy remains to this day welcoming all whatever their ability. Any member can play in the midlife teams who offer equal pad time to all who turn up to games.
The club developed and its open attitude to all allowed it to secure a grant some years ago ensuring financial stability which has remains to this day.
Midlife can be proud to have had several GB players as part of the club playing in the team and some still occasionally play today. Those who have seen the team play will have also noticed that we now have family members on the team which is really what the club is all about.
Midlife’s philosophy is to play for fun and apart from the occasional drill we do not have any formal coaching at our training sessions which are basically a scrimmage. The team started playing recreational tournaments just to get a few games. These unfortunately became few and far between hence the decision to have a go at League with BIPHA
North East. The club struggled but eventually made the BIPHA North East A League for a season. The club currently plays in the BIPHA North East B league and the GBHI Midlands B1 League.
We have players of all abilities and ages ranging from their teens to mid fifties. We still aim to have fun, yes we like to win, but the overriding philosophy of the club remains to provide inline hockey for all and give those who would probably be turned away by more serious clubs a chance of becoming involved in playing a great sport.
Midlife Madness... Building champions.
